What It Means to Be a Designer, Artist, Lover of Art, or a Patron

I think the meaning of being a designer, artist, lover of art, or a patron applies to the question: What Is Art?  What I mean is, it can have a similar answer. Art can be defined in many different ways by people. Everyone has their own style, their own uniqueness in art. Or they can be inspired by other artists. I believe the same applies here. Being a Designer, Artist, Lover of art, or a patron can have a series of different meanings. My meaning of this will obviously differ from others.

Expanding Worldview: Global Injustice and Disparities

Image
There were specific sections in museums that I saw that related to global injustice and politics. In this collection, political issues and social issues are confronted. Starting in the 1940s through present day, artists confronted the issues of their time. They did this to create more equality throughout culture. The history is labeled incomplete because the history is still ongoing. There was actually protest within the walls of the Whitney Museum. There was an exhibition called Biennial that was closed in June 2017 due to controversy. I know that this topic is a touchy one. But I can appreciate the dedication in individuals when it comes to fighting for equality. Expressing it artistically, in my opinion, makes it all the more powerful. It makes you think. It makes you stop and look. That's what happened to me. I spent so much time looking at the pieces in this exhibition that I kind of lost track of time. ...

Expanding Worldview: Differing Ways of Living and Being in the World

Being in New York is an experience. Especially when you come from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Where I live, things move slower than they do in New York. I feel like there's more space in Lancaster. Plus, you can drive to most places. New York is a different story. First of all, there are people. There are people EVERYWHERE. Of course, there are people everywhere in Lancaster, but in New York, there's MORE people. You can't skip around and do cartwheels in New York City without expecting to hit a group of people while doing so. In Lancaster, there are plenty of wide open fields where you could do this. You could even do it with people around (but I wouldn't recommend it). Second, there's the subway. In Lancaster, I can drive everywhere. In New York City, that's not exactly the case. You can have a car in New York City, but parking is expensive (along with everything else) and why own a car when you can walk, or take the Subway? In Lancaster, you can park in most...

United States: Art & Design

When thinking about what impact the United States has on Art & Design, a series of possibilities fills my head. I think about different artists, their styles, and different forms of art. Then, I think about where these artists came from, and what they have brought to the United States in relation to Art & Design. People from different countries come to the United States and have been for a while. I think this has an impact on Art & Design in the United States because people from different countries can bring their culture, style, etc., with them. Different artists and designers like to incorporate their style into their work, or their culture into their work. A lot of things can be incorporated into someone's work, but I believe the people that live in the United States impact Art & Design in this country in a good way. I believe this because the United States is full of people with different backgrounds, so I believe it brings a large amount of ideas to the table...
