Expanding Worldview: Global Injustice and Disparities
There were specific sections in museums that I saw that related to global injustice and politics.
In this collection, political issues and social issues are confronted. Starting in the 1940s through present day, artists confronted the issues of their time. They did this to create more equality throughout culture. The history is labeled incomplete because the history is still ongoing. There was actually protest within the walls of the Whitney Museum. There was an exhibition called Biennial that was closed in June 2017 due to controversy.
I know that this topic is a touchy one. But I can appreciate the dedication in individuals when it comes to fighting for equality. Expressing it artistically, in my opinion, makes it all the more powerful. It makes you think. It makes you stop and look. That's what happened to me. I spent so much time looking at the pieces in this exhibition that I kind of lost track of time.
